1. Hygiene comes first
In a hospital, footwear is part of the hygiene chain. Leather or textile clogs absorb fluids and cannot be properly disinfected. Professional medical footwear should be made from non-porous materials that can be washed with water, disinfected and, ideally, sterilised in an autoclave. For operating theatres and treatment rooms, choose models without holes — fluids and sharp objects can reach the foot through ventilation openings.

3. Weight
